Dover Downs celebrates recycling
Dover Downs Hotel & Casino recently celebrated two significant milestones in a campaign to increase its recycling efforts.
First, Dover Downs Hotel & Casino is now recycling 66 percent of its total waste, according to a recent analysis report. That represents an increase of 440 percent compared to recycling levels from 2011.
Second, Dover Downs Hotel & Casino is partnering with Planet Aid to help expand its community recycling program.
Planet Aid is a nonprofit organization that collects and recycles used textiles to protect the environment and support sustainable development in impoverished communities around the world. Bins will be set up around the Dover Downs Hotel & Casino property to collect used clothing.
"Dover Downs has made recycling a priority," said Ed Sutor, president and CEO of Dover Downs Hotel & Casino. "Our staff has been tremendous with their dedication to recycling, and we're looking forward to the entire community helping out by filling our bins with used clothing items."
In addition, Dover Downs Hotel & Casino donates all unused soaps, bottled shampoo, body wash, lotion and conditioner, as well as gently used towels and washcloths, to Dover Interfaith Mission, an area homeless shelter.
Since 2016, it has also donated over 6,700 pounds of food and an assortment of dishes and silverware to the mission. For more information, go to www.doverdowns.com.
