Rehoboth Beach-based rock band Electric Velvet celebrated 25 years of music at Conch Island Key West Bar Sept. 6. The core members of the band – Kristin Carmen, Anthony Carmen and Dale Loeser – have performed together throughout the Mid-Atlantic region since 1999.
Joined on stage by former members of the band, the group performed hits from the ‘80s, ‘90s and 2000s, while sharing stories about the band’s origin and history. Making guest appearances were former members and friends Taylor Knox presently playing with Decade 80; Roger Hillis of Freshly Squeezed; Mike Hatfield of The Damn Dirty Lush Band; and Mike Curry of Ginger Band and Love Seed Mama Jump.
“We had an incredible time reuniting with our former bandmates and celebrating the bonds we’ve built with each other and the beach community over the past 25 years,” said Anthony Carmen. “Playing together again was effortless, and it reminded us of all the fun we’ve had along the way. We are so grateful to Conch Island for hosting the event and to the many venues who have supported Electric Velvet over the past decades. Twenty-five years as band wouldn’t be possible without the community of people who appreciate and support regional music.”
Electric Velvet is set to appear at the customer appreciation event at Bethany Blues of Lewes from 5 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 17.
