Elizabeth "Betty" R. Thompson, Bethel Church member

Elizabeth "Betty" R. (Richardson) Thompson, 92, of Lewes, passed away Thursday, July 27, 2017, at Beebe Healthcare in Lewes. She was born April 5, 1925, in Wilmington, daughter of the late William and Margaret E. (Dryden) Richardson.

Mrs. Thompson lived many years in Florida with her late husband, William Laurence Thompson (April 23, 1997), before moving to Delaware. In Delaware, she was an active member of Bethel United Methodist Church and Choir. She was also the former treasurer of the Delaware State Federation of Women's Clubs, and the former treasurer of the Sandy Brae Homeowners Association. In her free time, Mrs. Thompson enjoyed cross stitching, playing the piano and the organ. She was a loving wife and dear friend who will be missed by all who knew her.

Mrs. Thompson is survived by her two stepdaughters: Nancy T. Sanders of Scot City, Mo., and Carol T. Friedman of Prescott, Ariz.; and two nieces: Janet T. McNulty of Dover and Lynda D. Forenski of Wilmington.

Funeral Services will be held Saturday, Aug. 5, at 11 a.m., at Bethel United Methodist Church, 129 W. Fourth St., Lewes, where friends may call beginning at 10 a.m. Interment will be held Monday, Aug. 7, at 11 a.m., at Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 North Dupont Highway, New Castle. Arrangements are being handled by Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, Lewes.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Mrs. Thompson's name to Bethel United Methodist Church, 129 W Fourth St., Lewes, DE 19958, and the Shriners Hospital for Children, 551 N Broad St., Philadelphia, PA 19140.
