Ellendale man faces charges in camper thefts
An Ellendale faces charges after police say he stole two campers in Greenwood.
Police were called Jan. 12 to the 10000 block of Blacksmith Road for the theft of two pull-behind campers. They learned that someone drove a black pickup onto the property Jan. 10, and stole a 28-foot Keystone Kodiak camper, police said.
The next day, police said, a black pickup was again seen stealing a 32-foot Prowler camper. Police identified Leon Leager, 39, in connection with the thefts, and found the Prowler that had been damaged.
Police said they continue to search for the Keystone Kodiak camper.
Leager was arrested Jan. 14, and charged with third-degree burglary, two counts theft of a motor vehicle, criminal mischief of $5,000 or more, theft under $1,500, criminal mischief under $1,000, and third-degree criminal trespass.
He was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 2, and released on a $10,150 unsecured bond.
