Essential Goods Giveaway helps individuals in need

First State Community Action Agency Heating and AC Program Manager Martina Duffy coordinated an Essential Goods Giveaway Jan. 21 in Georgetown.

Organizations participating in the event were Rock Of Ages Chapter 15 of the Order of Eastern Star in Milford, Rising Sun Lodge 4 in Milton, Temple Lodge 8 in Milford, Brandywine Counseling and Community Services and Delaware Fatherhood Coalition. The Antioch A.M.E. Church also provided resources to all attendees.

This free event provided a hot meal and personal hygiene bags for men and women. The personal items included blankets, deodorant, toothpaste, toothbrushes, toilet paper, soap, toiletries, lotion and other essentials. Many in the Georgetown community are in need of these items, especially the homeless. This event was well received by all in attendance.

“It was a very successful event,” said Duffy. “The turnout was great and we gave a lot of people personal items they really need.”
