Eugene M. Korzenewski, proud patriot
Eugene “Gene” M. Korzenewski, 89, of Rehoboth Beach, passed away Monday, May 2, 2022, at Delaware Hospice Center in Milford. He was born Monday, Aug. 1, 1932, in Utica, N.Y., to the late Sigmund Korzeniewski and Blanche (Lemanski) Ryan.
Mr. Korzenewski served as a sergeant in the U.S. Army, and was a veteran of the Korean War having served overseas. He was always a proud patriot who loved hunting, sporting clays and reading thrillers. Gene was an avid sports fan, and especially enjoyed coaching baseball and softball in Montgomery County, Md., for youth teams and adult church teams. Gene loved the Washington Redskins, Washington Senators, and Washington Nationals, and he never forgot his first love, the Brooklyn Dodgers.
Mr. Korzenewski retired from the G.F. Morin Company in Laurel, Md., where he was a sales engineer for Baltimore Aircoil Company.
Gene is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Mary Lou (Lehan) Korzenewski, three children: daughter, Carrie Kren (Mark); and sons, Peter Korzenewski (Stacy) and Karl Korzenewski (Barbie Billens); and five grandchildren, Alyson, Kelly, Timmy, Ava and Liam.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, Lewes.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m., Friday, June 10 at St. Edmond Catholic Church, 409 King Charles Ave., Rehoboth Beach, where family and friends may visit one hour prior to Mass. Interment with military honors will be held at a later date at Arlington National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions may be made to Delaware Hospice Center, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963.
