Known for its food truck specializing in Italian sausages, Philly cheesesteaks and half-pound burgers, Fat Vinny’s celebrated the opening of its Dewey Beach restaurant June 10.
Owner Vinny Manuele said his food truck has been so successful, he was able to branch out with a storefront. Manuele says the family-run operation, which includes wife Louise and son “Little” Vinny, uses the freshest of ingredients.
“People love our cheesesteaks and Italian sausage,” he said. “We try to bring authentic New York-style food here.”
Liscio’s sub rolls are delivered each morning, and Manuele uses sweet or hot Italian rope Fontanini sausage. Cheesesteaks are made with shaved ribeye or sliced chicken breast.
“Our gyros are phenomenal, too,” Manuele said. “People love our tzatziki sauce.”
Peppers, mushrooms and onions are sliced fresh each day, along with hand-cut, thick boardwalk fries. Diners can also find grilled veggie subs, hot Buffalo chicken wings, plenty of sides and appetizers, and Polish Italian ices.
Fat Vinny’s is currently open from 3 to 11 p.m., Monday through Thursday, and 3 p.m. to 2 a.m., Friday through Sunday, at 1905 Coastal Highway in Dewey, the spot formerly occupied by Dewey Kabob & Grill, in the Ocean Winds shopping center. Stop by, call 302-226-SUBS or go to fatvinnys302.com to order.
