Festival of Trees comes to Rehoboth Beach Nov. 22-24
The Festival of Trees is the annual event ushering in the holiday season statewide. Hosted by Delaware Hospice to support its programs, it features a magnificent display of decorated trees and wreaths, offers special holiday events and hosts thousands of visitors each year.
Hundreds of volunteers help organize and run the events; businesses and individuals sponsor trees and wreaths, which are decorated by artisans who donate their time and talent. At the close of the festival, the trees and wreaths are delivered to the sponsor’s selected destination, which is often another nonprofit organization.
Sussex County's Festival of Trees will take place Friday, Nov. 22, to Sunday, Nov. 24, at Rehoboth Beach Convention Center, 229 Rehoboth Ave., Rehoboth Beach. Sponsors include Bayhealth, Delaware Today, and GateHouse Media Delaware.
The weekend kicks off with a Holiday Gala from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m., Friday. Tickets are $40 per person. No tickets will be sold at the door. For tickets or information, call 302-746-4666, email FestivalofTrees@delawarehospice.org, or go to www.delawarehospice.org. .
From 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday and from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Sunday, the public is invited to view the display. Admission is free. Crafters and vendors will be selling a unique selection of holiday gift items. A fashion show will be presented on Saturday by Japanesque and Pitter Patter, and Santa will be on hand to greet visitors from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Also on Saturday is the Making Spirits Bright cocktail reception from 5 to 7 p.m. Tickets are $20 per person if purchased by Friday, Nov. 15, $25 after Nov. 15 and will be available at the door.
