One death reported in Fisher Road blaze

A structure fire at a home on Fisher Road ignited in the early morning hours of July 5.
Delaware State Police Master Cpl. Melissa Jaffe said a body was found in the home. Jaffe said Delaware State Police cannot confirm the cause of death; the body has been turned over to the Division of Forensic Science.
At 4:46 a.m., Milton and Lewes fire departments responded to the blaze at 28645 Fisher Road. The house was still smoldering five hours after the fire broke out, and a piece of cloth lying on the ground was still on fire.
Delaware State Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause of the fire and officials say any fatalities or injuries are also still under investigation. Chief Deputy State Fire Marshal Harry Miller said no firefighters were injured and no suspicious activity is indicated at this time. Miller said the fire caused $25,000 worth of damage.
