Friends of Cape Henlopen State Park to meet March 9
The Friends of Cape Henlopen State Park will hold its annual meeting from 9 to 11 a.m., Saturday, March 9, at the Officers’ Club in the park, and via Zoom.
Coffee and donuts will be served before the meeting begins at 9:30 a.m.
Friends President John Bracco will open the proceedings with a short summarization of the group’s programs and accomplishments over the past year. He will also review planned events and volunteer opportunities for 2024.
Guest speaker will be Gary Liska, a monarch butterfly expert who will discuss its migratory patterns and the monarch butterfly feeding station that will be built in Cape Henlopen State Park.
Sean Cain, CHSP assistant superintendent, will present a report on park projects and also provide a brief overview of the Delaware State Parks.
Treasurer Bob Callahan will present the Friends’ financial report for the past year. An election will be held to fill the three open seats on the Friends board. Only Friends members may vote; however, membership signups will be accepted at the meeting.
Attendees will have an opportunity to ask questions about the Friends’ projects and activities in the park, and to make suggestions. Volunteer sign-up sheets will be available for those who wish to assist during 2024.
The annual meeting is free and open to the public, but park entrance fees will be in effect.
