Fund for Women honors Ginger Weiss with Driving Force Award
The Fund for Women at the Delaware Community Foundation announced the 2021 Driving Force Award recipient is Ginger Weiss of Wilmington.
The Driving Force Award is presented annually to a founder or FFW group that has gone above and beyond in moving FFW forward to achieve its mission of empowering women and girls in Delaware to meet their potential.
A founder for 26 years, Weiss has been a longtime active member of the New Castle County Development Committee and is always looking for opportunities to connect FFW to the community.
In the past several years, she has helped connect FFW with multiple local events, allowing the fund to grow its founder base and fundraising capability. Weiss has been personally responsible for bringing in numerous new founders to New Castle County through her expansive network. Weiss also has served in an important informal consulting role to many FFW leaders.
Weiss graduated from Queens College, City University of New York, and began teaching elementary school in Wilmington. After teaching, she started a successful career in insurance and financial services.
As a Series 6 and 63 Securities professional with licenses in life, accident and health insurance, Weiss has been providing her clients with expert guidance to secure their financial future for the past 40 years. Weiss works with individuals, business owners and professionals to protect their families and business. In 2015, Weiss was featured in the debut edition of Financial Services: Women at the Top, a Women in Insurance and Financial Services Research Study.
A proud mother of three grown children and with six grandchildren, Weiss lives with her partner Barry Schlecker in Wilmington, where they support and produce multiple well-known arts events, the most notable of which is the Brandywine Festival of the Arts.
Her additional volunteer activities include the Jewish Federation of Delaware, Indivisible Highlands & Beyond, and Kutz Senior Living Campus board for the past 10 years.
