Gallery 50 to host Marcia Reed art exhibit reception June 28

June 27, 2024

Embracing Nature, an exhibit of works by artist Marcia Reed, will open with a reception from 5:30 to 8 p.m., Friday, June 28, at Gallery 50, 50A Wilmington Ave., Rehoboth Beach. The show will be on display through Wednesday, July 17.

Reed, a native New Englander who has resided in Milford since 2012, will be available to meet and talk about her work.

Since 1978, she has been professionally exhibiting her paintings, and has shown as far away as Seoul, Korea. Her works have been represented in galleries across the country and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

“My visual narrative in my canvases, works on paper and mixed-media collages is that I love to paint nature’s forms. This includes landscapes and plant life. The painterly brushwork is so important to me as I’m after the energy exchange and visual vibration between the land, water, plants and sky. It is the borderline between conventional separation of abstraction and representation that is exciting to me. It is discovering that interchange dialogue where these fluid organic shapes, expressive lines, patterns, color and movement react to each other and create an emotional response,” said Reed.

With a bachelor’s degree in art education and a master of fine arts in painting, Reed was a full-time instructor of painting and design for 35 years at the Williston Northampton School in Easthampton, Mass. She has taught numerous workshops across Europe in Cinque Terre, Tuscany, Istanbul, Santu Lussurgu, Sardinia, Burgundy, Dijon, and St. Thomas and St. John in the U.S. Virgin Islands.
