Georgetown-Millsboro Rotary awards $18K to local nonprofits

May 6, 2022

The Georgetown-Millsboro Rotary Club recently awarded $18,200 in grants to 10 community nonprofit groups.

The club awards grants once a year to nonprofit organizations serving Georgetown and Millsboro.

This year’s grant recipients include the Boys & Girls Clubs of Delaware, Christian Storehouse, Georgetown Historical Society, Everlasting Hope Ministry, Kody’s Kids, La Esperanza, Love Drives Foundation, Philadelphia Arms Townhomes, Primeros Pasos and Sussex County Habitat for Humanity.

Individual grants ranged from $1,000 to $3,000 and were awarded at a special luncheon March 29. The club awards grants once a year to nonprofit organizations serving Georgetown and Millsboro.

The grants are underwritten each year by the club’s signature Flags for Heroes fundraising project, which takes place every spring. The project honors military veterans and culminates with American flags displayed on the Georgetown Circle, at the Delaware Tech campus in Georgetown and at four locations in Millsboro.

This year’s Flags for Heroes campaign is now underway. For more information, go to gmrotary.org.

A service club that meets at noon every Tuesday at Mulligan’s Pointe, the Georgetown-Millsboro Rotary draws members from across southern Delaware. The club continues to grow and now consists of nearly 30 members who are dedicated to the idea of “service above self.”
