Georgetown Speedway plays key role in stock-car history
March 26, 2018
Local legislators, friends and Melvin Joseph family members gathered March 17 to unveil a Delaware Archives Historical Marker at Georgetown Speedway during its opening-day celebration. The half-mile oval dirt track on Route 113 was built in 1949 by the late Melvin L. Joseph, who passed away in 2005, not far from the business he founded more than 75 years ago. Over the years, many regional stock-car racing legends have participated in races at the track.
