Gilbert Lee Shisler, graphic designer

Gilbert Lee Shisler, 65, of Lewes, formerly of Abington, Pa., died Tuesday, July 9, 2013, at his residence after a long battle with cancer.

He was born in Philadelphia, Pa. to the late H. LeRoy and Dorothy (Korell) Shisler.

Gil graduated from Abington High School, class of 1965. He studied architecture at Penn State University in State College, Pa. for five years. Gil was employed in the art department as a graphics designer for American Olean Tile Company, Lansdale, Pa. He moved to Lewes in the mid '70s and opened an antique shop on Second Street.

Gil was an avid skier, traveling often to Denver, Colo. He collected antiques and enjoyed performing in local musical theaters.

Gil purchased an original school house in Shipcarpenter Square, where he transformed a one-room school house into a beautiful three-story home.

He is survived by a brother, Jeffrey Shisler and wife Marilyn of Harleysville, Pa.; two nieces, Pamela Benedict and husband, Pastor Steven of Manassas, Va. and Robin Greiner and husband, Gene of Perkasie, Pa.

A memorial service will be held Monday, July 22, at 11 a.m., at The Beacon, 514 East Savannah Road, Lewes. Burial will take place at Sunset Memorial Park, Feasterville, Pa.

Memorial contributions may be made in his name to: Tunnell Cancer Center, 18947 John J. Williams Highway, Rehoboth Beach, DE 19971.
