The following letter is in reference to Senate Bill 55, which prohibits gender transition surgery for children.
How old do you have to be to drink alcohol? In Delaware, it’s 21. We know the reason is protection for the young adult. The use of certain other drugs are also prohibited for the same reason.
How old do you have to be to drive a car? You can get a permit at 16, but that comes with learning and driving with an adult in Delaware. The same is true in Senate Bill 55, and I am for that protection.
If you have had any psychology classes, you know about “Erikson’s Stages of Development.” It explains the stages we go through in life. Each stage is preparing you for the next. Adolescence – identity versus identity crisis – is age 12-18 years old. At that age, teens develop their personality. When I was that age, I didn’t feel very “girly.” I was what they called a tomboy at that time. I liked sports – playing baseball/football. I was very unsure of myself up until I was around 14, but I grew out of my insecurity because no group or person convinced me that I needed to be anyone else.
Everyone is entitled to live their life as they choose as long as it doesn’t harm anyone else. Today, I would have been forever changed, and I would not have had time to get through the confusion and be able to have a family and children of my own. Today, I thank God that wasn’t the case! Ask yourself some questions: Why is this happening now? Many folks married and had children when they were in their 20s. Does it seem like abortion and transgender ideology is causing our population decline? Why do they want to have a declining population?
