It was a good day for everything British May 6. Not only was it coronation day for King Charles III and Queen Camilla, it was also the day of the 27th annual British Motorcar Show in Lewes.
Co-sponsored by the Lewes Chamber of Commerce and British Car Club of Delaware, British cars, including Triumphs, Rolls-Royces, Jaguars, MGs and Austin-Healeys, filled the grounds at the Cape-May Lewes Ferry terminal. Under bright skies, a near-record crowd turned out for the event.
The event concluded with the more than 30 winners parading through downtown Lewes. Judges included Lewes Mayor Andrew Williams, chamber board President Nikki Fisher, WRDE news anchor Madeleine Overturf and British Car Club member Charlie O’Donnell. Dana Mason, another car club member, coordinated the judging. Mike Tyler served as show organizer, which he has done for each of the event’s 28 years.
