Groome Church raises $7,500 to aid Ukrainian war relief

Groome Church, as part of its ongoing support for Ukrainian war relief efforts, recently made contributions totaling $7,500 to two organizations – $5,000 to World Central Kitchen and $2,500 to Come Back Alive.

The Rev. Dr. S. Willard Crossan, pastor, said, “In March, Groome held a community meeting on how to help and support the people of Ukraine during this awful, troubling time. Members of the local Ukrainian community, friends and neighbors of ours, shared stories and gave firsthand accounts on what is happening in their beloved country and what their families, those still there, are enduring. Prior to, and encouraged by this event, Groome collected and matched donations to support Ukrainian war relief, and we will continue to do so until there’s a clear and hopefully favorable resolution of this horrific conflict. Our congregation doesn’t view this gesture as a one and done. We will continue to support the Ukrainian people by flying their colors, and more directly, looking for and developing other opportunities to assist the war relief effort.”

World Central Kitchen serves millions of meals to Ukrainians forced to leave their homes to escape the Russian brutality, many fleeing to southern Poland where WCK has established a border crossing field kitchen to feed arriving families, many who have gone days without food.
