Hannah Catherine Houston, took pride in family
Hannah Catherine Houston, 95, of Frankford, passed away peacefully at her home Friday, April 6, 2018, surrounded by her loving family. She was born June 15, 1922, in Waltham, Mass., a daughter of the late Clarence and Myrtle (Moorehouse) Bent.
Hannah will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who took pride in raising her family. She loved caring for her roses and traveling in the motorhome alongside her husband, Charles. In addition to traveling, she enjoyed bowling, playing cards, boating, going to the beach and attending the softball World Series.
She is survived by her children, Bruce Bent and wife Margaret of Selbyville, Colleen Winterbottom of Selbyville, Carey Steen and husband E.J. of Dagsboro, Elizabeth Baxley and husband Clint of Tequesta, Fla., and Dawn Hudson of Frankford; 13 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and sister, Barbara Heilgman of Lake Winnipesaukee, N.H. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Bell Houston Jr., who passed in 1987; a daughter, Roxie Brown; and a brother, Clarence Bent Jr.
A graveside service will be held Saturday, April 14, at 11 a.m., at Roxana Cemetery. Pastor Barry Townsend will officiate.
