Harry Fletcher Jr. joins Parsell Funeral Homes in Georgetown
Harry Fletcher Jr. has joined Parsell Funeral Homes and Crematorium as a licensed funeral director at their Georgetown location, the Dodd-Carey Chapel at 307 North Bedford St. A lifelong Georgetown resident, Fletcher brings with him nearly 25 years of experience in the funeral home industry which he began in 1992 as an assistant with Parsell.
"We are delighted to welcome back Harry into our business. He has extensive experience and deep roots in the Georgetown community which will be a great addition to our team," said Keith Parsell, president and licensed funeral director at Parsell Funeral Homes.
After his initial position at Parsell, Fletcher worked as an assistant at Short Funeral Services in Milton and Georgetown from 1995 to 2001. He then became a licensed funeral director at that facility from 2002 to 2014. Immediately prior to rejoining Parsell, Fletcher served as a licensed funeral director at Pippin Funeral Home in Camden for two years.
Fletcher attended Sussex Central High School and Delaware Technical Community College before receiving his associate degree in mortuary science from Catonsville Community College in Maryland. He also recently completed a course to become a certified pre-planning consultant. His accomplishments include having been appointed by the governor to serve two consecutive terms on the Delaware Board of Funeral Services, during which he was elected president and secretary.
His commitment to the community includes active memberships with the Georgetown Fire Company and the Georgetown Historical Society, as well as past memberships with the Georgetown American Legion Ambulance, Kiwanis and Lions Club.
