The Lodge at Truitt Homestead delivered 20 subs to Rehoboth Beach Volunteer firefighters at Station 2 Jan. 27, the first stop of its new Heroes for Heroes initiative.
The main emphasis of the initiative is to encourage support of first responders and emergency personnel in the community, said Kate Sammler, vice president of marketing and sales for Vantage Point Retirement Living, which oversees the Lodge.
“As a senior living community, we are extremely grateful for the police officers, EMTs, fire men and women, and all those who keep our residents safe,” Sammler said. “In recent times where this is such a divide in our country and community, we all can agree that our heroes deserve to know how much we appreciate them. The Heroes for Heroes initiative is a small way we can pay it forward and express our gratitude.”
Suzette Chambers, community relations director at The Lodge at Truitt Homestead, said even a small token of appreciation, like a good meal after a hard training session, goes a long way.
“We are so grateful for those who protect the Lodge as a community and the greater region as whole,” Chambers said. “It’s important for us to recognize and show our appreciation for those who sacrifice their time and risk their lives to keep us safe.”
Sammler said The Lodge at Truitt Homestead plans to recognize at least one group of heroes per month. To suggest a hero or heroes, email team@truittlodge.com.
