HOB students collect food for the Milton Community Food Pantry

January 1, 2015

Students at H.O. Brittingham Elementary School found the seasonal giving spirit and raised 993 pounds of food for the Milton Community Food Pantry.  The pantry graciously accepted the food Dec. 16.

The pantry, which every week gives area poor three days worth of food, was the brainchild of Shannon Scott-Wilcutts, the Rev. Dianne Davis and Barbara Wright, all of Goshen United Methodist Church of Milton, and opened this past June. The faith-based pantry originally included four local churches, but has since expanded to include seven local churches: Goshen UMC, St John the Baptist Episcopal, Mt Zion Holy Church, Zion United Methodist Church, Water’s Edge Wesleyan Church, and The Grace Church, all of Milton, as well as Harbeson’s United Methodist Church.

The group preps and accepts donations every Sunday at Goshen Hall in Milton from noon to 2 p.m.  Donations are distributed to area needy on Mondays.  For more information on the group call Shannon at 302-249-4918 or stop by Goshen Hall on Sundays from noon to 2 p.m.
