Howard Carlton “Hobby” Stevenson Sr., Movies at Midway employee
Howard Carlton “Hobby” Stevenson Sr., 87, of Milton, went home to be with his Savior Friday, Feb. 3, 2017, at Beebe Healthcare, Lewes, in the presence of family members.
Hobby, as he was called by family and friends, was born Aug. 2, 1929, to the late Charles E. and Mary E. Hoxter Stevenson in Georgetown. Hobby was blessed to have a long work history, retiring in 1986 from General Foods in Dover after 25 years of service as a lab tech, six years at the Omni Bank in Millsboro, and Midway Movie Theaters up until his passing.
Hobby's wife Alice Golden Stevenson died in 1999. Howard was a longtime member of Prospect AME Church, and last member of Prospect's former male chorus in Georgetown. For the past 10 years he had been attending Burton Chapel AME Church in Milton. Howard was a board director of the Georgetown CHEER Center. Howard was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army, and was honorably discharged. Howard graduated from Howard High School in 1947 and received a certificate for barbering from Lincoln Barber School in 1949.
Survivors include three children: Howard C. Stevenson Jr. of Philadelphia, Pa., Bryan A. Stevenson, Esq. of Montgomery, Ala., and Christy L. and Mark Taylor of Georgetown; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Services will be held Friday, Feb. 10, at 11 a.m., at Trinity Faith Christian Center, 15516 New Road, Lewes, where friends may call two hours hour before the service.
