Delaware Shore Field Hockey closed out its indoor league schedule Sunday evening, Feb. 27. In the elementary division championship game, Blue upset Red 3-1. Marcella Sabbagh gave Blue the first-half lead with her score near the end of the period. Libby Baird then pulled Red into a tie at 15:43 in the second half. Amanda Sponaugle got the game winner at 9:31. Sabbagh finished off the scoring less than a minute later for the champions.
Green defeated Gold 4-0 for the bronze medal. Mo Abbott led the scoring with two goals with Summer Davis and Ryleigh Elliott each adding one.
In the mixed division, Black defeated Gold in the championship game by a final of 7-3. Brittany Betts and Anna Steiner scored for their respective teams to earn a 1-1 score at half. It was all Black in the second half with Kelly Smith (3), Betts (3), and Jordie Loomis scoring. Jenna Steele and Sam Broadhurst had second-half goals for Gold.
Mixed-Blue team defeated Mixed-Pink by a final of 9-5. At half the score was 4-3 for Blue but in a span of four minutes in the second half, Blue dominated by scoring four goals to take a commanding lead. Erin Ricker scored four for her Pink team with a goal contribution from Danielle Renken. Lisa Williams lead Blue with four goals, followed by Marlee McGinness (2), Hannah Collins and Jacki Coveleski. Blue ended up with the silver medal for the season.
Green defeated Purple by a final of 5-1 on goals by Karissa LeMaire, Korinne LeMaire, Taylor Trimmer, Maddy Brown and Kelly Palekar. Katie Smith had the solo goal for Purple.
In a game decided in the final minute, Orange defeated Red by a score of 6-5. Carey Karl opened scoring for Red at 16:15 in the first half but Jordan Brown quickly tied the game less than two minutes later. Kelly Palekar scored to give Orange the lead followed by a Peyton Medd goal to open a temporary two-goal advantage. Karl scored her second and Caroline Judge scored to even the game at halftime. Brown again gave the lead to Orange early in the second half but Morgan Catts evened the game for Red. Judge got her second goal to give Red a short-lived lead before Palekar and Brown each scored to earn the win.
Final scoring leader in the indoor season was Erin Ricker with 21 goals followed by Danielle Renken and Jacki Coveleski with 14 each.
