Iron Hill Brewery opened its doors officially May 24, marking its 14th location, and third in Delaware, offering a brand that prides itself on a “Craft Kitchen and Scratch Brewery,” and boasts an indoor brewing facility, spacious outdoor patio with bar and seating, a large bar, spacious seating, and a separate room that can be used for events throughout the year.
The attention to detail when it comes to creating food from scratch that is accompanied by beers brewed on site is a direct tribute to their philosophy which has allowed growth and expansion over the business’ 22-year history since opening it’s first location in Newark in 1996.
“This has been quite the journey being able to build this brewery and restaurant in a mere five months, and we can contribute that success to all of those involved,” said Head Brewer John Panasiewicz.
The new location will offer an exclusive beer that is only available at the Rehoboth Beach location called “Breakwater IPA” that has a subtle malt profile and balanced bitterness leading to crisp notes of citrus fruits in the flavor and aroma.
“We wanted to create a beer that meant something to the community and has ties to something local. The beer is named after the Breakwater Trails, and we hope to build upon this idea and create additional beers that have a relationship to Rehoboth. At our new state-of-the-art facility, we are able to brew up to five batches at a time, with an estimated 900-1,000 barrels to be produced this year. Our front of house also sells select beers in can that can be purchased. We will have up to 16 beers on tap with seasonal specials throughout the year. I am very excited to continue working toward creating the best beer experience that accompanies our amazing food and atmosphere,” said Panasiewicz.
Iron Hill Brewery wanted to take the next step in it’s expansion and growth by opening four different locations on the East Coast this year, and each of the three co-founders: Kevin Finn, Kevin Davies and Mark Edelson attribute their success to the sense of community that is created over time at each of their establishments.
“My father has asked me to open a location in Rehoboth for years, being that he has a home in Lewes. At this point in time, I felt like it was the perfect opportunity to expand to the Eastern Shore. We have an ideal spot that is a part of a growing community both residential and business-wise; and Rehoboth has become more than a beach town with the seasons last longer and longer each year,” said Finn when explaining his ties to the area and why it was important to bring Iron Hill Brewery to the Rehoboth Beach community.
“We pride ourselves on creating food and beer at the highest level, while providing the highest level of customer service to every customer who walks through the door. Iron Hill Brewery is a great environment that is perfect for any occasion, whether it be stopping in for lunch or coming in later at night. My partners and I are so grateful for the support of repeat and new customers over the years. You are the reason we conduct ourselves with the utmost attention to detail,” added Finn.
The excitement was evident at the establishment for the new journey ahead. “This whole process has gone very smooth because of our great crew. We are so excited to share our beer and food combinations with such an amazing community,” said General Manager Rich Whittick.
Not only does Iron Hill Brewery offer a dining and drinking experience, they pride themselves on holding special events throughout the year to increase community interaction and involvement. They will be holding a “Beer and Yoga” class Saturday, June 2 from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Tickets for that event can be purchased at https://beerandyoga.ticketleap.com/beer--yoga---iron-hill-rehoboth/.
