Jack Riddle to receive Sussex Distinguished Citizen Award Nov. 7

The Delmarva Council, Boy Scouts of America, announced the recipient of the 2023 Sussex County Distinguished Citizen Award is William Jack Riddle of Sussex County.

Recipients are selected for their outstanding service as evidenced by their leadership to many worthwhile organizations, as well as the respect and esteem in which they are held by their colleagues and community. The award will be presented to Riddle Tuesday, Nov. 7, at Ivy in Dewey Beach.

Riddle serves as president and chief lending officer of Community Bank Delaware, headquartered in Lewes. He joined the bank at its 2006 inception. He worked for 24 years in various management roles with Citizens Bank prior to joining Community Bank.

He hast been a two-time recipient of the U.S. Small Business Administration Financial Services Champion Award for his commitment to the Delaware small business community. He is active in Rotary, formerly serving as Area 41 assistant district governor and past president of the Lewes-Rehoboth club. He currently serves as a board member of Delaware Economic Development Office, Delaware Health Facilities Authority, Delaware Solid Waste Authority and Rehoboth Beach-Dewey Beach Chamber of Commerce. For his family’s efforts to raise over $100,000 to repair a youth tennis facility in Seaford, they were honored as U.S. Tennis Association Family of the Year in 2017. He also served as treasurer of Nanticoke Health Services (now TidalHealth) for more than 15 years and was a board member for 25 years.

Riddle is a University of Delaware finance graduate who received his MBA from Salisbury State University. He is active in Crossroad Community Church and a lifelong resident of Sussex County, where he resides with his wife Susan. They enjoy spending time with their family (Stefanie and Joey, and Laura and Matt ) and their five grandkids (Jaxson, Anna Lee, London, Anthony and Liam), playing tennis and pickleball, and bike riding at Cape Henlopen State Park.
