James L. Blackburn Jr., avid outdoorsman
James L. Blackburn Jr., 67, of Lewes passed away Friday, Dec. 25, 2020, at Beebe Healthcare. He was born Oct. 7, 1953, in Paducah, Ky., son of the late James L. Sr. and Frances Blackburn.
Mr. Blackburn built a lifelong career as an iron worker at Harkins Concrete Construction in Salisbury, Md. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting, being near the water, and enjoyed everything coastal living had to offer. He was particularly fond of surf fishing, for which he won first place in 2001 at the Fall Classic Surf Fishing Tournament. Above all, Mr. Blackburn cherished time spent with those he held most dear. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Blackburn was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Lois E. Blackburn, who passed away in 2017; and his brother, Gary Eskew.
Mr. Blackburn is survived by his son, James Blackburn of Lewes; his granddaughter, Eileen Olivia Blackburn; his brother Dennis Eskew (Beverly) of Lincoln; and his nephew, Monty Eskew.
Services will be private. Arrangements have been entrusted to Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, Lewes.
