James Roundtree Jr., beloved patriarch
James Roundtree Jr. was born in Eastman, Ga., Aug. 5, 1940, the eldest of nine children, to the late James Roundtree Sr. and Lucille Roundtree. He was known as James or Jim, and the nickname his wife called him was Gump. He departed this life Wednesday, Nov. 3, 2021.
James was raised in Eastman where he attended elementary and high school. He later moved to Florida, where he fell in love with his wife, Christine. They were married for 60 years. They moved to Delaware to start their life together. James worked various jobs, including at Pyrofax Gas and Suburban Propane, where he retired after several years of service. James loved to fish and hang out with his fishing buddies. James was the beloved patriarch of his family.
In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by his brother, Willie Roundtree; daughter, Judith Williams; and his wife, Christine Roundtree.
James leaves to cherish his memories his sisters and brothers; four grandchildren, Corvetta Williams, Veronica Hall, Lifiate Louis (Melissa) and Pierre Louis (Geefdine), all of Delaware; 16 great-grandchildren; seven great-great children; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends
Celebration of Life Service was held Saturday, Nov. 13, at Friendship Baptist Church, 500 W. 4th St. Lewes.
