Janet Diane Henderson, loved rubber stamping
Janet Diane Henderson nee Joyce, 76, of Millsboro passed away peacefully Monday, March 1, 2021, at Howard County General Hospital in Columbia, Md., with her husband Glen, daughter Melissa Roland and granddaughter Megan Roland by her side.
Jan was born in Tulsa, Okla., to Horace and Melba Joyce. She graduated from Pampa High School in Pampa, Texas, where she met and married her high school sweetheart. Jan attended business college in Amarillo, Texas. After moving to Maryland, she worked at the Montpelier Cultural Art Center as the office manager for part of the Maryland National Capital Park and Planning Commission for 25 years. She loved working with the artists, greeting people, and setting up the concerts and receptions.
She was an active member of the Parkinson’s Education and Support Group of Sussex County. Jan was also very involved in all activities that involved her kids and grandkids. She was a Girl Scout leader, band booster parent, swim team rep and a super-proud Nana to her grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Glen Henderson of Millsboro; a daughter, Melissa Roland of Laurel, Md.; three grandchildren, Megan Roland of Laurel, Jacob Henderson and Thomas Massey, both of Cumberland, Md.; and a daughter-in-law, Liz Henderson of Cumberland. She also leaves behind two nephews, Randy and Larry Webb of Florida, and one niece, Dane Garza of Texas.
Jan was predeceased by her parents, sister Eugenia Webb, son Justin Henderson, and son-in-law Rick Roland.
A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m., Sunday, March 21, at Watson Funeral Home, 211 S. Washington St., Millsboro, where friends may call from 3 to 4 p.m. for visitation with the family. Interment will be private.
