Janice V. Gerard, dedicated social worker
Janice V. Gerard, 78, passed away peacefully Thursday, Oct. 17, 2024, in the company of loved ones. She was born on Oct. 14, 1946, in Milford, beloved daughter of the late Louis and Catherine (Joseph) Vickers.
Janice dedicated over 50 years of her life as a social worker, helping countless individuals and families in need. Outside of her work, she found joy in traveling, reading, and cooking, and was a devoted animal lover, particularly fond of dogs.
Janice was preceded in death by her loving parents; and her husband, Ken Gerard Sr. She is survived by her son, Ken Gerard Jr.; her sister, Lois Mears (James); her brother, Louis Vickers Jr. (Lori); and many cherished nieces and nephews.
A memorial service to honor Janice's life will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, Oct. 25, at Watson Funeral Home, Millsboro. Family and friends are invited for visitation from 10 to 11 a.m. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial donations be made to the Brandywine Valley SPCA, bvspca.org/donate, in recognition of Janice's love for animals.
