Janie M. Foard, C&P Telephone retiree

Janie M. Foard, 85, of Dover, passed away Tuesday, June 7, 2016, at Bayhealth Milford Hospital in Milford. She born in Chocowinity, N.C., daughter of the late James A. Smith and Lillie Chauncey Smith.

Mrs. Foard was the wife of the late James E. Foard Jr., and they were married for 56 years. She was retired from C&P Telephone company of Maryland.

She was active in her church and church auxiliary, and a lifetime member of the Bel Air Volunteer Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary.

She and her husband loved to travel. They visited every state in the union, and made several trips to other countries. She liked working with crafts, following the Baltimore Orioles and NASCAR. She enjoyed eating out with friends, especially Chinese food.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Foard was preceded in death by her siblings, Myrtie Florence Smith, Arnold Parker, Helen Daughton, Andrew Smith, Donald Smith, Arthur Mack Smith and William Thelbert Smith. She is survived by a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held Saturday, June 11, at 10:30 a.m., at Cool Spring Presbyterian Church, 28843 Log Cabin Hill Road, Lewes, where friends may call beginning at 9:30 a.m.

Friends may also call Friday, June 10, from 2 to 4 p.m., at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes.

Additional Funeral Services will be held Monday, June 13, at McComas Funeral Home, Bel Air, Md., with interment at William Watters United Methodist Church Cemetery, Jarrettsville, Md.
