Jeannie Lea Simione, loved fishing

Jeannie Lea Simione, 61, of Dagsboro, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family Tuesday, Feb. 21, 2023, at Beebe Healthcare in Lewes.

Jeannie was born in Alloway, N.J., Sept. 11, 1961, daughter of the late James Walter Davenport and the late Patricia Lea (Zucchini) Davenport.  

Jeannie worked for General Motors on the assembly line prior to her retirement due to her disability. After moving to Sussex County, Jeannie volunteered daily for over five years at the Christian Storehouse in Millsboro. She made countless friends, and that is where she met her future husband, Robert Golley.  

Jeannie will be remembered by her family for her love of fishing, as she would fish every day if she could. She had a big heart, was very giving, and loved spending time with her family as that was so important to her.  

She is survived by her husband, Robert Golley; a daughter, Shannan Simione; two grandchildren, Kaya Rose Clark and Colton Simione; and four siblings, Bonnie Davenport, Jamie Check, Jimmy Davenport and Bobby Davenport.  

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, March 2, at the Frankford Chapel of Melson Funeral Services, 43 Thatcher St., Frankford, where friends and family may visit after 10 a.m. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Dagsboro.
