Joseph Favoroso of Troop 186 earns Eagle Scout rank
Joseph L. Favoroso III of Boy Scout Troop 186 completed his Eagle Scout leadership project in June and passed his Eagle Board of Review July 26 to earn his rank as an Eagle Scout.
Favoroso completed his project at his former school, Lulu Ross Elementary in Milford. He created a lunch/reading garden for the students and staff to enjoy. The courtyard now has three picnic benches, four bench seats and some landscaping. The project took 156 hours, and 26 volunteers assisted. For materials and supplies, Favoroso raised over $1,000 and secured lumber from local businesses to complete his project.
Favoroso, 14, is entering his freshman year at Sussex Tech High School where he is a member of the marching band. He is also starting his second year in the Academic Challenge Program at Delaware Tech.
During his years as a Boy Scout, he has attended 24 camping trips for a total of 76 nights of camping. His fellow scouts recently elected him as a member of The Order of the Arrow. This summer he went on the high adventure camping trip to Philmont Scout Reservation in New Mexico, backpacking for 80 miles of rough terrain over a period of 10 days. He and his crew climbed to the peak of Mount Phillips with an elevation of 11,763 feet.
Favoroso has completed over 50 hours of community service with Troop 186. He has earned 28 merit badges and his bronze palm.
