Joseph M. Stracinski, Food Lion employee

Joseph M. Stracinski, 86, of Lewes, passed away Saturday, Dec. 1, 2012, at the Delaware Hospice Center in Milford. Mr. Stracinski was born Jan. 26, 1926, in Philadelphia, Pa., son of the late Isadore and Antoinette Sumainska  Stracinski.

In addition to his parents he was also predeceased by a sister Jane Geordano.

He had worked for 24 years in maintenance for a convalescent center in Darby, Pa. before his retirement to Delaware where he began his second career working part-time at the Food Lion on Route 1, Rehoboth, for 22 years.

Fishing every day if possible and meeting and talking to people were his favorite pastimes.  He was a member of St. Jude the Apostle Catholic Church in Lewes, Order of the Redmen in Lewes, VFW Post 7447 in Rehoboth Beach, and the Lewes Senior Center.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Frances Gawronski Stracinski ; two sons, Joseph Stracinski of Newark and Thomas Stracinski of Roslyn, Pa.; a sister,  Dorothy Persing of Boothwyn, Pa.; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m., Tuesday, Dec. 4, at St. Jude the Apostle Catholic Church, Tulip Drive, Lewes, where viewing will begin at 10 a.m.  Burial with military honors will follow at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Millsboro.

In lieu of flowers contributions are suggested to Delaware Hospice, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963. Arrangements by Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Lewes.
