La Sarmiento to lead virtual meditation retreat May 1
Insight Meditation Community of Lewes will welcome meditation teacher La Sarmiento for a virtual retreat from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., Saturday, May 1, via Zoom. The event will include a dharma talk on the topic: Ain't No Time Like the Present: Taking Refuge in the Now.
Sarmiento said, “At this half-day retreat, we will deepen the importance of the basic practice of returning time and time again to the present moment to cultivate awareness and compassion for however life unfolds both in formal practice and in our everyday lives, and further explore the impact of dwelling in the past and/or anticipating the future. Our time together will include guided meditation, heart practices and mindful sharing.”
All are welcome to attend this morning of meditation and discussion.
La Sarmiento (they/them) has been practicing Vipassana meditation since 1998. They are the board president and a teacher with the Insight Meditation Community of Washington, D.C., the guiding teacher of the IMCW Black, Indigenous and People of Color and LGBTQIA+ Sanghas, and a mentor for the Mindfulness Meditation Teacher Certification Program.
