Larns J. ‘Jim’ Hughey, retired captain

Larns J. "Jim" Hughey, 78, of Harbeson, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 15, 2017, at his home. He was born Wednesday, May 24, 1939, in Lewes, son of the late Harry and Virginia (Clark) Hughey.
Mr. Hughey was born and raised in Lewes. He made a career with the Bay and River Pilots Association, retiring as captain. He married Gladis Page, the love of his life, in 1963. Mr. Hughey enjoyed traveling, playing with his dogs, spending time with his family, and watching old black and white television programs. He was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather. He was loved by many and will be missed by all who knew him.
Mr. Hughey is survived by his beloved wife of 54 years, Gladis; his daughter Karen Euceda of Lewes, her husband Vlad, and her son Nicholas; his daughter Laura Price of Harbeson, her husband Jeff, and two children, Kelly and Matthew; his brother George (Bo); and many cousins. He will also be missed by lifelong friends Robert Yarnall and George Willey.

Services will be private. Arrangements are being handled by Parsell Funeral Homes and Crematorium, Lewes.
