Lewes library welcomes Emily Ellinger as teen librarian
The Lewes Public Library announced the arrival of Emily Ellinger, who will serve as the new teen services librarian.
Ellinger was born and raised in Maryland, and moved to Selbyville in 2010.
In 2016, Ellinger accepted a position at Selbyville Public Library with a focus on children and teenagers. She approached her work with an ardent zeal, and quickly won her co-workers’ and patrons’ respect through her tireless efforts. During her time at the Selbyville library, Ellinger helped develop and execute several popular programs.
Ellinger then moved to the Frankford Public Library to focus specifically on teen services. Her passion for the position led to the creation of many successful teen programs, including a recycling club, a teen advisory group and a teen movie night. These successful programs helped Ellinger forge strong bonds with the teen population of the Frankford community.
Seeking new challenges, Ellinger accepted the position at Lewes Public Library Sept. 3. She will focus her energy on Lewes’s teen community and pumping vitality back into a once-thriving teen program.
“If you can get the kids into the library and having a good time, everything else will fall into place,” she said. She also plans to work with the Cape Henlopen School District and other community organizations to form lasting partnerships that will benefit Lewes’s youth.
“When the teens, the community and the library all work together to shape a better future, well, that’s one of my favorite parts of the job,” Ellinger said.
