September 17, 2022

Lewes Lions Club incoming officers were formally installed in a ceremony led by past District Gov. Charlie Taylor of the Harrington Lions Club.

Tom Engel was elected as club president for the upcoming year, and Kathy Engel was elected to serve as club secretary.

The following were also installed: Treasurer Michele Jessup; one-year directors Randy Friend, Beth Hicks and Gary Nennstiehl; two-year directors Ray Quillen and Nancy Russ; Membership Chair Rachel Hartman; Tail Twister Jeff Mitchell; and Lion Tamer Glenn Kohr.

“I am looking forward to continuing the Lewes Lion Club’s commitment to serving the community and look forward to growing our club membership,” said Tom Engel.

Since the club’s chartering in 1946, its members have worked on a variety of projects in the local community, such as scholarships awarded to high school seniors, donating to the Lewes Parks & Recreation Commission, Lewes Fire Department, Cape Henlopen Food Basket, Lewes Public Library, and many more organizations. The club also collects eyeglasses at 12 different locations throughout the area.

The Lewes Lions Club is always looking for members and meets at 6:30 p.m., the second Wednesday of the month at American Legion Post 17 in Lewes.
