The Lewes/Rehoboth 8-10 All-Stars fell to Milton 5-3 July 8 at the Millsboro Little League complex to end their run in the District 3 tournament.
“I’m proud of the efforts,” said Lewes/Rehoboth coach Dwight Tingle. “Some are playing in the all-stars for the first time. It’s nice to see them get used to playing in that environment.”
Their journey started with an exciting 5-4 win over Nanticoke July 5 at Lower Sussex Little League. Matt Brittingham went 2-for-3 with two singles, scored a run and knocked in a run. Jamison Tingle went 1-for-3 with a double and an RBI. Brenner Short went 2-for-3. Tripp Gannon laid down the game-winning bunt to score Conner Garman in the bottom of the sixth to break a 4-4 tie.
Tingle pitched three no-hit innings for Lewes/Rehoboth, striking out seven Nanticoke batters. Ben Tollett came in from the bullpen to pick up the win.
The Lewes/Rehoboth squad ran into the heavy bats of Lower Sussex in the second round, falling 12-2 to the home team.
Brittingham went 2-for-3 with two singles and scored a run. Tingle went 1-for-3 at the plate with a single and scored the second run. Lawson Whaley got in the book, going 1-for-3 with a single.
Lewes/Rehoboth then defeated Woodbridge in an exciting 7-6 victory July 7.
“Matt Brittingham had two hard shots for hits in the win over Woodbridge,” said coach Tingle. “We came from behind for the win. The boys played really hard.”
Lewes/Rehoboth’s season came to an end July 8 with a 5-3 loss to Milton.
Whaley went 2-for-3 with two runs scored; Michael Thompson went 2-for-2 with two singles, Brittingham went 1-for-3 with a single, and Tingle hit 1-for-4 and scored a run.
