Live polka music set at American Legion in Lewes Sept. 15-17

July 28, 2016

While a construction project will prevent the annual Polkamotion by the Ocean polka festival from taking place at the Rehoboth Beach Convention Center this September, arrangements have been made to conduct polka dances Thursday Sept. 15 through Saturday, Sept. 17, at the W. T. Spooner American Legion Post 17 Pavilion in Lewes. It's only seven miles from the convention center.

Polka Family from Pennsylvania will perform from 6 to 10 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 15. The Eddie Forman Orchestra from Massachusetts will perform a special show with Charm City Sound Reunion from Maryland will be featured from 6 to 10 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 16. The Polka Country Musicians from Connecticut will perform from 6 to 10 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 17.

Admission is only $15 for each dance and the full bar serves very reasonably priced drinks. (KIds under age 16 are admitted free.) There is plenty of free parking, and the pavilion grounds provide ample space for a large crowd. The limited seating in the pavilion is available on a first come, first served basis. Advance tickets are recommended. To order by mail, send a personal check or money order payable to Mike Matousek, 8372 Williamstowne Drive, Millersville, MD 21108. Food will not be available but complimentary snacks will be served.

For the convenience of those lodging in Rehoboth Beach (and those who prefer not to drink and drive), Jolly Trolley Inc. will provide ground transportation from the Rehoboth Beach Convention Center site on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights to the pavilion leaving at 5:15 pm. The return trip leaves the pavilion at 10:15 p.m. To reserve and pay for seats, go to www.jollytrolley.com/pay-per-seat or call 302-227-1197. Seats on the bus will be limited on Saturday night.

After each dance, polka DJ parties will be conducted from 11 p.m. to 1 a.m. at Zogg's Raw Bar and Grill, 1 Wilmington Ave., Rehoboth Beach. For more information, go to www.polkamotion.com and www.rbpolka.com or call Mike Matousek at 202-246-7918.
