Local government officials meet with new governor, honor Georgetown manager
Nearly 130 Delaware League of Local Governments members gathered Jan. 23, to hear newly elected Gov. Matt Meyer discuss Executive Order No. 4, which will create a working group to research and fast-track the permit process to increase affordable housing.
In addition, Georgetown Town Manager Gene Dvornick, who has served in that leadership role since 2007, was honored as 2024 DLLG Town Manager of the Year. Dvornick, the longest-serving town manager in Georgetown’s history, has over the past 17 years helped provide solutions in the town including the Pallet Village, zoning advancements for single-family residential leased communities, and other critical housing support issues. He served on Milton Town Council from 2004-07, and is also a former fire chief with the Milton Fire Department.
Four new DLLG Executive Committee members were introduced, one of whom is Wilmington Mayor John Carney, who recently ended his second term as Delaware governor. The league also welcomed two more DLLG Legislative Advocacy Committee members, both from Sussex County.
