Major Biden's Indoguration raises $200K for Delaware Humane
Delaware Humane Association and Pumpkin Pet Insurance hosted a virtual fundraising event Jan. 17 to celebrate the Indoguration of Major Biden, the first shelter pup to become First Dog. The event, powered by Zoom and emceed by NBC News’ “Today” host Jill Martin, celebrated Major’s journey from DHA shelter to the White House in an effort to raise awareness around the importance of pet adoption and support more shelter animals like Major in finding their forever homes.
With more than 7,400 attendees, the event raised $200,000 to support the DHA – a significant impact during a typically slow month for donations. DHA received 100 percent of the proceeds to support its essential relief efforts for pet parents who are struggling financially during this time and homeless pets in need of forever homes.
The virtual party featured a contest to become a member of Major’s Cabinet as the Secretary of Rescue Dogs. Philanthropist, animal advocate and founder of Beaux & Paws, Sir Darius Brown, announced the winner from among 700 entries submitted. The grand finale featured Grammy, Tony and Emmy Award-nominated singer, songwriter, actor and dog-lover Josh Groban performing an original dog-themed song to thank participants for their support of DHA and congratulate Major on his move to the White House.
