SoDel Concepts’ 16 coastal Delaware restaurants are celebrated for a variety of culinary styles, including seafood, Mexican, Italian, pizza and bagels. But in the month of March, they’re all known for burgers.
It’s Burger Month at all the eateries, and even Surf Bagel is in on the act. New to the SoDel Concepts family, its two locations have offered a beef patty on a toasted sesame bagel with homemade dill pickle cream cheese.
“We introduced Burger Month a few years ago, and it’s been a home run ever since,” said Doug Ruley, vice president of culinary operations for the hospitality group. “The chefs like to put a unique twist on the American classic, and our guests get a kick out of the unexpected combinations.”
The selections will change over the month, but below is an example of burgers that have already hit the special sheets.
Papa Grande’s Coastal Taqueria in Fenwick Island offers a burger on a brioche bun with chipotle-and-roasted-garlic aioli, lettuce, tomato, bacon, Gruyere, fried onions, avocado and jalapenos. Fries and spicy ketchup are on the side.
Northeast Seafood Kitchen in Ocean View serves the double smash burger on a jalapeno brioche bun with caramelized onions, provolone, mushrooms, Manchego fondue, lettuce and tomato. It’s served with Old Bay fries and coleslaw.
Matt’s Fish Camp in Fenwick Island offers the Cubano burger – a patty made from pork loin with fontina cheese, pickles, mustard, mojo mayo and plantain chips on the side.
Thompson Island Brewing Company in Rehoboth Beach serves a double-stacked birria burger with mozzarella and cheddar, topped high with braised beef birria, sweet onions, cilantro and red chile au jus on a sesame seed bun. It comes with fries and a pickle.
