Maria Rebecca Goldstein, proud veteran

August 30, 2022

Maria Rebecca "Becky" Goldstein, 93, of Lewes, passed away Sunday, Aug. 28, 2022. She was born Feb. 28, 1929, in Taft, Texas, daughter of the late Felipe and Guadalupe (Garza) Vasquez.

Becky was a proud veteran, having honorably served in the U.S. Navy as a Seaman First Class. She and her family relocated to Lewes, having formerly resided in Northern New Jersey, where she dedicated 40 years to the U.S. Veterans Affairs Department, gaining extensive neuropsychiatric experience and retiring in 2008.  Becky concluded her work as a career interior designer.

Becky took great pride in her Mexican-American heritage and the culture that she loved all her life.  She took pleasure in sharing stories of her birthplace and upbringing, and was forever mindful of continuing important family traditions.

Above all, Becky enjoyed time spent with those she held most dear. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. Loved by many, she will be deeply and genuinely missed by all who had the good fortune to know her.

Becky is survived by her beloved husband, Stanley Goldstein; her children: Leonard of Atlantic County, N.J., Laura (Don) of New Hope, Pa., and Ray (Donna)  of Egg Harbor Township, N.J.; and her grandchildren, whom she took great pride in, Christopher and Carolyn Goldstein of Ventnor, N.J., and Zachary, Erin and Dana of New Hope.

A prayer service will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, Sept. 1, at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Hwy., Lewes, where friends may call beginning at 10 a.m. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to Beebe Healthcare, beebehealthcare.org/donate.
