Marty Rendon will promote positive changes

August 23, 2024

I'm writing to express my support for Marty Rendon for the 14th Representative District, my proud home. I first met Marty at a meeting with the Eastern Sussex Democrats and was impressed by his warm welcome and friendly demeanor.

I was introduced to the ESD by my friend Tom, the vice president of the organization. I had already taken training courses through Building Bridges via the Democratic National Committee and wanted to become more involved locally. My motivation to engage in politics came from my openly gay father's concerns about the state of the country, and the rise in hatred and violence during the tenure of the former president. Inspired by Angela Davis, "I no longer accept the things I cannot change. I am changing the things I cannot accept."

Similar to Marty, I was attracted to this area by its charm, warm people and welcoming atmosphere. As an adult, I settled in Rehoboth Beach after working as a nurse specializing in critical care and traveling across the country. Like Marty, I observed the community's dedication to preserving the environment while promoting equality and diversity.

Marty has a proven track record of bipartisan policymaking in Delaware and years of experience working for UNICEF on Capitol Hill. You can learn more about this at his campaign website, MartyRendon.com.

In the words of Parker Palmer, "The democratic experiment is endless, unless we blow up the lab, and the explosives to do the job are found within us. But so also is the heart’s alchemy that turns suffering into community, conflict into the energy of creativity, and tension into an opening toward the common good."

I share Marty's passion for public service, particularly in promoting peace, civil rights, environmental preservation, and justice for all individuals, irrespective of gender identity or sexual orientation. As an openly gay individual, I also volunteer with LGBTQIA+ nonprofits to create a more inclusive community in Rehoboth and beyond.

In conclusion, I firmly believe that Marty Rendon is the most qualified and genuine candidate for this position. His commitment to public service, embracing diversity, and advocacy for the community make him an ideal choice. It's evident that his dedication to this role comes from his sincere desire to serve with his Franciscan heart.
