Matthew Dean Long, skilled carpenter

Matthew Dean Long, 36, of Lewes, passed away Saturday, Jan. 29, 2022, at his home.  He was born July 31, 1985, in Milford, son of William W. Long Jr. of Oroville, Calif., and Connie Sue (Barringer) Long of Lewes.

Matt was a graduate of Cape Henlopen High School, Class of 2003. He was a skilled carpenter employed by Backyard Works Inc. at the time of his passing. He was an avid football fan and a faithful supporter of his beloved Dallas Cowboys. He enjoyed yard work and working around the house, and his ability to quote lines from movies was impressive. Matt was grateful to Oxford House and the residents there, whom he considered family. He was a loving son, brother, uncle, and friend who was loved by many and will be deeply missed.

In addition to his parents, Matt is survived by his daughter, Maddison Long of Lewes; his brother, JR Long (Nicole) of Tonganoxie, Kan.; his half-sisters: Lori Walker (Dale) of Oroville, Kelly Long of Lewes, and Kimberly Sease of Oroville; three nieces, one nephew, and one great-niece.

All services will be private. Final care has been entrusted to Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, Lewes.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to Oxford House, Naboo, 325 N. Bedford St., Georgetown, DE 19947, or Attack Addiction, P.O. Box 36, Bear, DE  19701.
