McCarron files for Sussex District 2 seat
Steve McCarron, a lifelong Sussex County resident and a small business owner, has filed as a Republican candidate to represent Sussex County Council District 2.
The seat is currently held by Republican Cindy Green, who was elected in 2020. She has not officially announced her intentions for this election cycle.
McCarron, who lives in Bridgeville, is a Woodbridge High School graduate and earned a degree in agriculture science from Delaware Valley College. He then pursued a career in agriculture for over 20 years in both the poultry and vegetable industries. He is married to Shelly and they have two children.
He has 30 years of service to the Bridgeville Volunteer Fire Company, 10 years on the Woodbridge school board, and served on the Bridgeville Town Commission.
His key priorities include workforce housing, maintaining the agriculture industry, ensuring adequate infrastructure with growth, emergency services and safety, and economic development.
In addition to his commitment to Sussex County and his public service record, McCarron is a small business owner. McCarron and his family own and operate AMP Electric and two restaurants. “Economic development is a key component in maintaining a thriving economy, and we need business leaders who understand the demands of opening new ventures, taking risks, [and] attracting and maintaining a growing workforce,” he said.
“Good leadership is determined by experience and perspective. I ask for your support and bring extensive experience of working and serving in this county,” he added.
Other council members whose terms expire this year are Council President Mike Vincent of Seaford, serving since 2008, and Councilman Mark Schaeffer of Lewes, who was elected in 2020.
