Millsboro man already in jail faces carjacking charges

A Millsboro man in prison for leading police on a Milton-area chase Sept. 30 in a stolen car faces new charges after police say he was one of three who robbed an acquaintance and stole their car Sept. 29 near Millsboro.

Police were called at 5:15 a.m. to the area of Hollyville and Mount Joy roads for a reported robbery and learned that two people had driven to the location to meet an acquaintance. When a woman got out of her vehicle to enter another car with the suspect, police said, she was robbed at gunpoint for an undisclosed amount of cash. Meanwhile, police said, another person forced the male victim out of his vehicle and then drove off in the stolen car. The vehicle was later recovered by detectives.

On Oct. 1, police said Javontai Ricketts, 27, turned himself in at Troop 4 and was charged with first-degree robbery, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, possession of a firearm by a person prohibited, second-degree robbery, aggravated menacing, theft of a motor vehicle, second-degree conspiracy, and theft under $1,500. He was committed to Sussex Correctional Institution in default of $163,000 cash bond.

In a separate incident, Terance Savage, 36, was charged Sept. 29 after he led police on a chase in a stolen car Sept. 30, before abandoning it in Milton.

He was charged with possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, possession of a firearm by a person convicted of a violent felony, receiving stolen property, and other weapon, drug and traffic charges. He was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 7 and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution in default of $43,100 cash bond.

On Oct. 11, Savage was charged in connection with the Millsboro carjacking and charged with second-degree robbery, theft of a motor vehicle, and second-degree conspiracy. He remains in custody at SCI with an additional $7,000 cash bond for a total of $50,100.
