The Milton 8-10 All-Stars were eliminated from the District III tournament July 14 with a 12-2 loss to Woodbridge. The squad had defeated Millsboro 16-0 July 13 to stay alive after losing 27-9 to Lower Sussex in the opening round of the tournament July 12.
Against Lower Sussex, Milton was led by Andrew Ockels, who went 4-for-5, knocking in a run. Chase Madden went 2-for-5. Noah Smith went 1-for-3 with a triple and two RBIs. Brody Sellers went 1-for-1 with an RBI. Robert Monaghan had a hit, and Lane Wyatt had a double. Carter Legates had two hits, while Jude Bastian had a hit. Mason Conran picked up an RBI.
“Our team battled to the end,” said Milton manager Steve Carey. “We played hard all six innings.”
Lower Sussex had 23 hits in the game.
Jack Gates delivered five RBIs for Lower Sussex. Jackson Blood, Gavin Tritapoe and Migel Castillo each garnered three RBIs, while Jack Owens, Grant Fiels and Brady Fiels all had two. Tyler McCray, Calab Bunting and Bennett Erbe each had one RBI.
Blood and Owens each struck out three Milton batters.
