Milton chamber Second Saturdays to spotlight adoptable dogs

May 10, 2023

The Milton Chamber of Commerce will begin its Second Saturdays for the summer season May 13, and welcome residents and visitors to explore local businesses and the region.

This year, the chamber has partnered with Grass Roots Rescue to help find homes for older adoptable rescue dogs. A picture of one of the rescue dogs will rotate from one chamber business to another for each Second Saturday in Milton or Harbeson.

Many communities throughout the country designate a specific day of the month to encourage people to discover and support local businesses and retailers. During Milton and Harbeson’s Second Saturday events, the chamber will encourage people to explore galleries and restaurants, visit and utilize local services, and get to know representatives at the Milton Theatre and Milton Historical Society.

“There has already been an existing Second Saturday initiative in Milton thanks to The Mercantile, and we are going to help promote it far and wide,” said Karen Falk, Milton chamber executive director.

“Look for the framed picture of our featured rescue dog, Nibbles, in the window of one of our downtown Milton business members this weekend. We invite people to venture downtown, and when they see Nibbles' picture, they can walk into the business and register for a chance to win a $50 gift card to that business, courtesy of the Milton Chamber of Commerce. Follow our Facebook page for updates,” said Falk.

“We thank the Greater Milton Chamber of Commerce for welcoming Grass Roots Rescue and Nibbles to be a part of their Second Saturdays. Our goal is for Nibbles to be adopted into a loving home. For more information on Nibbles and other adoptable pets, log onto grrde.org,” said Danielle Griffith, Grass Roots Rescue volunteer.
